UM-CERN Summer REU Application
The program is administered by the University of Michigan Department of Physics, with support from the U.S. National Science Foundation. The program is only open to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents. US students studying in other countries are also eligible to apply. Women and minority students are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible for this REU program you:
must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
must be enrolled in a degree program leading to a bachelor's degree. High school graduates who have not yet enrolled and students who have received their bachelor's degrees or will receive their bachelor's degree before the program starts are not eligible. Only students who can retain the undergraduate status during the whole program period are eligible to our program.
must be a major in physics, engineering or computer science.
most students admitted to the program are between their third and fourth year of undergraduate education.
In addition CERN has the following requirements to qualify for a place in the Summer Programme:
You are a Bachelor or Master student (not PhD) in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics and should have completed, by the European Summer 2024, at least three years of full-time studies at university level.
You will remain registered as a student during your stay at CERN. If you expect to graduate during European summer 2023 (as of May), you are also eligible to apply.
You have not worked at CERN before with any other status (Technical Student, Trainee, User or other status) for more than 3 months and you have not been previously a Summer Student at CERN.
You have a good knowledge of English; knowledge of French would be an advantage.
